No Shave November

My son came down for the holidays and I was very surprised by his hairy face.  This is very uncharacteristic for him, so I had never seen him so many days from a shave.  He prefers to be extremely clean cut.  His hair is a buzz cut, and he shaves daily, sometimes more than once.

You may be thinking he is rather hairy.  He is not.  When I am talking hairy face, I'm talking about a thin and patchy growth.  His mustache is as if you faintly drew one on.  And his beard looks like... well it doesn't look like a beard.  So what I am saying is that when it grows out, he doesn't really look like he's growing a mustache and beard.  He's incredibly handsome and I'm sure is very happy that he is not the hairy type.  So why is in this condition?

Apparently it is No Shave November.  You make a commitment to not shave for the entire month of November.  Who started this I do not know.  It did make me laugh though.  I can picture all these scrubby faced men, even those who can grow a nice beard, because it is NO shave.  You can trim it up.  Any sign of razor bumps and you have broken the oath.  And the girls with the hairy legs.  I don't even want to think about armpits.  Yes, I'm sure it is quite the campus seen.

I hope families aren't looking forward to family pictures at Thanksgiving.  Well, at least they know what to get these No Shave November kids for Christmas!
